Q: |
Can you provide series transformers without primary and/or secondary connectors? |
A: |
Yes, we regularly provide such transformers for some markets - e.g. see TISE and UK style transformers. They are built and tested in the same way as all of our other transformers. We are also strong believers in the value of connectors. Most people think of them as an ease to connection and disconnection, and so they are. But as a transformer manufacturer, we also think of them as a place to block water from wicking up the leads into a transformer if a splice or connection is not perfect (what project has not had some of those?). It is notable that during the effort to write IEC standards for series isolating transformers, the countries that do permanent splicing are concerned about water entering transformers through this path, whereas countries that use connectors, by far the majority, do not have the same concerns. |
