Why is there an AmerSeal sleeve on both the plug and receptacle, since only one is needed when making a splice?

The main use of these kits is for transformer connectors, where two AmerSeals are required. So in the interests of uniformity and reduced stocking, every kit has two. And when making a splice, the extra AmerSeal is used as the equivalent of the change in shape of transformer connectors in order to provide a full water seal — see later for more detail. |
