Why are the Super Seal stretchers solid plastic? Most ‘cold shrink’ type splices that I am familiar with use a plastic ripcord.

We considered ripcords, but there were several reasons we decided to go with the solid stretchers instead. For one thing, ripcords can be fragile and sometimes break unintentionally, especially in cold weather. They are also much harder to use in the small diameters required for these kits. And they are more expensive. |
