Should we use heat shrink sleeves as supplementary protection over Super Kit connections?

Definitely not! The Super Kits were specifically designed not to require any assistance. The cable entrances are totally watertight, with a tighter and longer waterseal than on previous models. And the AmerSeal provides a full second seal over the interface to another connector. This not only saves the cost of additional materials, but also labor (= money), both during initial installation, and when troubleshooting. Observation of field installations suggest that it takes approximately 5 minutes to install a heat shrink sleeve. This cost is no longer necessary. Also, AmerSeal is easy to put back in place when reconnecting, even under the severe time restraints of operating conditions. |
